After more than ten years of following a vegan lifestyle, I have had the chance to explore plant based dining in many cities around the world. What once felt limited has evolved into a diverse and established food culture.

A bright open-air restaurant dining room with wooden tables, woven-back chairs, and archways overlooking the ocean.

This list features 25 standout vegan restaurants from cities worldwide, selected for their food quality, creativity, and overall dining experience. From casual neighborhood spots to refined dining destinations, these restaurants highlight how diverse and globally established vegan cuisine has become.

⭐ My Top Picks (If You Only Have Time For a Few)

  • Saido (Tokyo): rated the best vegan restaurant in the world on HappyCow
  • De Nieuwe Winkel (Nijmegen): the only two-Michelin-starred vegan restaurant on earth
  • Holy Carrot (London): called the best vegan restaurant in London by a mile
  • Ark (Copenhagen): the single meal I still think about most
  • Lucky Leek (Berlin): consistently ranked the best vegan spot in the city

1. Purezza (Brighton, London, Manchester, United Kingdom)

📍 Google Maps location

Purezza is the UK’s first vegan pizzeria, and I’d order a Neapolitan pie with their house-made rice mozzarella. One non-vegan reviewer called it one of the best pizzas of their life. There are branches in both Brighton and Camden, London.

2. Oukan (Berlin, Germany)

📍 Google Maps location

Oukan does Japanese vegan fine dining built around fermentation, they even run their own fermentation lab. I’d book the six-course tasting menu with the tea pairing, it’s consistently the part reviewers say not to skip.

3. Loving Hut (Multiple locations, Worldwide)

📍 Google Maps location

Loving Hut is a genuinely global vegan chain, so there is likely a branch near wherever you are traveling. Quality varies by location, so check reviews for the specific one near you, but the menu concept, casual vegan comfort food, stays consistent.

4. Slutty Vegan ATL (Atlanta, United States)

📍 Google Maps location

Slutty Vegan built a genuine cult following in Atlanta with playful burger names and huge flavor. I’d order the Fussy Hussy. Be ready to eat on a curb or nearby bench, most locations have very limited seating.

5. Veggie Grill (United States)

📍 Google Maps location

A fully vegan fast-casual chain with over thirty locations across the US, second only to Loving Hut in size. I’d order the VG Classic burger or the Far East bowl at Veggie Grill, both are the most recommended items.

6. Boneless Kitchen (Singapore)

📍 Google Maps location

Already covered this one in detail in my Singapore roundup, but it’s worth repeating here: The Boneless Kitchen is a hidden gem for Korean vegetarian food, and the Vegan Dolsat Bibimbap is the dish I’d order.

7. Atlas Monroe Vegan (United States)

📍 Google Maps location

Atlas Monroe makes vegan fried chicken good enough to impress the Shark Tank panel. The seitan is genuinely moist and crisps up well in an air fryer. It ships frozen, so this is one for when you can’t find a restaurant carrying it locally, worth knowing the shipping runs pricey with next-day dry ice.

8. Yes It’s All Vegan (London, United Kingdom)

📍 Google Maps location

An Italian and Korean fusion spot on Brick Lane. I’d order the kimchi sushi burger at Vegan Yes, it’s the dish that keeps coming up, alongside the chocolate mochi for dessert.

9. Saido (Tokyo, Japan)

📍 Google Maps location

If I could only pick one restaurant on this entire list, it might be this one. Saido has been rated the best vegan restaurant in the world on HappyCow, and it’s a genuine fine-dining experience built around Japanese technique. Book ahead, it fills up fast even with the reservation system.

10. Holy Carrot (London, United Kingdom)

📍 Google Maps location

One reviewer called Holy Carrot the best vegan restaurant in London by a mile, and the produce-forward, seasonal menu backs that up. Being fully plant-based means you can order anything on the menu without double-checking, which is rare even at vegan-friendly spots.

11. Naïfs (London, United Kingdom)

📍 Google Maps location

A Michelin-recommended, family-run vegan bistro in Peckham. I’d let Naifs‘s changing set menu surprise you, it rotates roughly every eight weeks and leans hard into seasonal vegetables rather than fake meat.

12. Lucky Leek (Berlin, Germany)

📍 Google Maps location

Regularly called the best vegan restaurant in Berlin. Lucky Leek runs a 3 or 5-course set menu mixing European and Asian technique, and the house-made vegan cheeses are what people mention most.

13. Cadence (New York, United States)

📍 Google Maps location

An update before you plan a visit: Cadence was reported closed as of November 2025. It was known for vegan Southern soul food, purple yams with blackberry coulis in particular, so if it reopens elsewhere it’s worth seeking out, but don’t count on the East Village location.

14. Soda Club (New York, United States)

📍 Google Maps location

A fully vegan Italian spot and natural wine bar in the East Village. I’d order the cappelletti or the veggie brodo with truffle oil at Soda Club, and save room for the vegan tiramisu.

15. Veganerie (Bangkok, Thailand)

📍 Google Maps location

With six branches across Bangkok, Veganerie is one of the easiest fully vegan spots to find in the city. The dessert case is the highlight here, reviewers keep calling it excellent, alongside solid Thai and Western comfort food.

16. Avant Garden (New York, United States)

📍 Google Maps location

One of the original upscale vegan spots in the East Village, since 2015. The Michelin Guide called it excellent food that just happens to be vegan. Avant Garden is tiny, so book ahead if you want a table during peak hours.

17. Tendril (London, United Kingdom)

📍 Google Maps location

A seasonal, vegetable-focused menu in Mayfair. Tendril started as a pop-up before opening permanently, and reviewers consistently call the food some of the best vegan cooking in London, even if the room itself (it sits inside a pub) can get a little noisy.

18. Ark (Copenhagen, Denmark)

📍 Google Maps location

I covered Ark in detail in my Copenhagen guide, it holds a Green Michelin Star and might be the best single meal I’ve had on any of these lists. The sake-brined turnip and the crème fraîche ice cream are the dishes to ask about.

19. Bonvivant (Berlin, Germany)

📍 Google Maps location

Bonvivant became the world’s sixth fully vegan Michelin-starred restaurant in 2023. The six or seven-course set menu focuses on original flavor combinations rather than imitating meat, exactly what you’d want from a Michelin kitchen.

20. Bistro Lupa (Copenhagen, Denmark)

📍 Google Maps location

Another one from my Copenhagen list worth repeating here: Bistro Lupa carries a Green Michelin Star and a Bib Gourmand, and the fried blue oyster mushrooms with tamarind ketchup are the dish I’d order first.

21. Gauthier Soho (London, United Kingdom)

📍 Google Maps location

A Michelin-starred, fully vegan tasting menu in a Soho townhouse. Gauthier Soho‘s chef built his reputation on French technique, and reviewers who aren’t even vegan describe the tasting menu as some of the best food they’ve had, full stop.

22. Bayts (Lucerne, Switzerland)

📍 Google Maps location

A seven-course, purely plant-based sharing menu (four courses on quieter nights). Bayts does not seat walk-ins even with empty tables, so book ahead. One reviewer called it pretty close to Michelin-star level.

23. blooms (Zurich, Switzerland)

📍 Google Maps location

Set inside the grounds of The Dolder Grand hotel, with individual terraces surrounded by vegetable beds. blooms only opens May through September, and only in good weather, your booking gets cancelled if it rains, so build in flexibility if you’re planning around it.

24. BELLIES (Stavanger, Norway)

📍 Google Maps location

Stavanger’s only fully vegan restaurant, set in a converted factory. I’d book the eight-course tasting menu at Bellies and go in with time to spare, reviewers call the deep-fried oyster mushroom and the vegan ice cream standouts.

25. De Nieuwe Winkel (Nijmegen, Netherlands)

📍 Google Maps location

The only two-Michelin-starred vegan restaurant in the world, and it’s worth planning a trip around on its own. De Nieuwe Winkel‘s botanical tasting menus are built from a six-acre food forest the chef also tends himself, real farm-to-table in the most literal sense.

Why Vegan Dining Is Growing Worldwide

The rise of vegan only restaurants reflects a growing global awareness around sustainability, health, and ethics. Research such as this one from Harvard Health shows that well-balanced vegan diets may support heart health and help reduce the risk of chronic disease.

Organizations like The Vegan Society and platforms such as Plant Based News continue to highlight how innovation and creativity are shaping the future of plant-based dining around the world.

Whether you are planning your next trip or simply exploring new food ideas, these 25 vegan restaurants show how plant-based cuisine continues to grow through quality, creativity, and respect for local food culture.
