The Plant-Based Snacks I Buy Again and Again
When I first started eating more plant-based meals, I assumed snacking would be the easiest part. I figured I’d just grab whatever looked healthy and move on.
It didn’t take long to realize that wasn’t always the case. Some snacks were loaded with sugar, others left me hungry an hour later, and a few weren’t actually vegan once I looked closely at the ingredient list.

Over time, I found myself buying the same plant-based snacks because they were convenient and satisfying. In this guide, I’ll share the ones I buy again and again, along with simple tips for choosing snacks that fit your budget and lifestyle.

Some of my cheapest favorites include:
- Air-popped popcorn

- Apples
- Rice cakes
- Homemade roasted chickpeas
Store brands are often just as good as name brands, especially for pantry staples like nuts, popcorn, and dried fruit.

Some are, and some aren’t. I usually look for snacks with protein, fiber, and simple ingredient lists rather than focusing on marketing claims.
Roasted edamame is one of my favorites because it’s naturally high in protein and easy to carry.
Yes. Many grocery stores now carry at least some of these brands, along with naturally plant-based snacks like nuts, popcorn, and dried fruit.
Not at all. Many everyday foods are naturally vegan and often cost less than specialty products.
Whole Foods Come First
Packaged snacks can certainly make busy days easier, but I still believe whole plant foods deserve most of the space in my kitchen.
Fresh fruit, vegetables, beans, nuts, seeds, and whole grains naturally provide fiber, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients that packaged foods can’t always match.
I think of packaged snacks as a convenience, not the foundation of my diet. Finding a balance between convenience and whole foods has made eating plant-based feel much more sustainable for me.
Final Thoughts
You don’t need to buy every snack on this list to enjoy eating more plant-based foods. Start with a few that fit your taste, budget, and routine, then build from there.
Finding a handful of snacks you genuinely enjoy can make healthy plant-based eating feel much easier every day.
